
Nutrition Certification
How to Become SNA Certified
School foodservice and nutrition personnel who wish to apply for certification must submit an application packet to SNA, P.O. Box 791004, Baltimore, MD 21279-1004. Your packet must include:
- Completed certification application form available in Adobe Acrobat format. SNA will review and process all complete applications within 4-6 weeks. Incomplete applications will be returned.
- Certification fee as listed on the application, and
- Required documentation showing that you meet the certification requirements outlined below. Such documents may include a high school diploma/GED certificate, specialized training certificates received within the past five years, and/or college transcripts.

When SNA has processed your application, you will receive a certification packet, which includes:
- A certificate indicating the certification period;
- Instructions and procedures for certification renewal;
- A wallet-sized certification card; and
- A CEU tracking form
Certification is issued for a three-year period and is renewable every three years, assuming that you satisfy the criteria for renewal. * Post-secondary requirement for Level 3: Applicant must have completed at least one college credit course prior to applying for certification. Transcript or diploma must be submitted as documentation. ** Specialized Training courses must be within five years from application for certification, with the exception of nine college-level semester hours in sanitation and safety, nutrition and foodservice management for Level 3.
